Do I need to have a license to teach at a Teach Philadelphia school?
Not necessarily. Unlike public schools, many of our member independent schools do not require teachers to hold a state teaching certification.
May I post my resume to Teach Philadelphia even if there isn’t a specific job that I want to apply to?
Yes! In fact, we strongly recommend that you do so. Schools may search the database for candidates prior to posting a position on the site. If your application is complete and approved, schools will be able to find you, even if you haven’t explicitly applied to a specific position.
How much does it cost me to apply to a Teach Philadelphia school?
Nothing! The member schools pay a nominal fee for membership, so applicants do not have to pay to apply.
I’ve applied to a position I saw on Teach Philadelphia. What happens now?
The school that listed the job will receive your resume. They will review your information and contact you about moving ahead in the hiring process. Schools will also let you know if they don’t think you’re right for the position so that you have an opportunity to apply to other available positions.
How long does my application stay active on the Teach Philadelphia site?
Your application is active until you decide to make it inactive. We will be performing a yearly “purge” of applicants, where we ask you whether or not you are interested in remaining an applicant. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll make your application invisible to schools, just so they are only viewing applicants who are interested in working.
I don’t have any teaching experience. Can I still apply to Teach Philadelphia?
Sure! Some positions or schools may need more or less experienced teachers. Please feel free to apply, even if you are just finishing school.
Are there any non-teaching jobs posted on Teach Philadelphia?
While our focus is on teachers, Teach Philadelphia has begun posting administrative and support positions. Feel free to browse our available positions and see if there’s anything that interests you.
I’d like to substitute teach at some of the Teach Philadelphia Schools. How do I apply?
You can apply the way that you would to any other job on Teach Philadelphia. Complete your application, and visit the “Jobs” tab in your application. You’ll see that there is a position for “substitute teacher pool.” Submit your application there, and schools will follow up with you if they think that you would be a good fit for their substitute teacher pool.
